Announcement!
How to Make RC airplanes is now How to Build RC airplanes
Why did you change the name of your website?
Good question! The name change came about after doing some surveys of our visitors over the years. They were always asking why we didn’t say “build” instead of “make”. The answer is pretty simple. We were a new site back in 2008, and at the time, “make” had more searches than “build”… so we went with it.
Fast forward 11 years
Wow, it has been eleven years since we launched and now… we are re-branding ourselves (just a tad). Changing from MAKE to BUILD seems natural when we are talking about building anything. Making is OK, but building is what our visitors asked for and building is what we do!
What will change?
Nothing will change as far as the quality content we have been providing. We will still work hard to give you useful building tips and tutorials that you can apply to your own RC airplane building techniques.
We will be changing the name of our book (our lawyers said it was OK). Now it will be known as “How To Build RC Airplanes – A Comprehensive Guide”.
Our old website will re-direct to here, so not to worry if you bookmarked howtomakercairplanes.com. You will still get to our site safely to enjoy all of the wonderful building tips. And if you would like to buy our book, we would really like that too!
And Now- the official “ABOUT US”
Hello and welcome to our site. My name is Carl Bayer and we created this site with you, the beginner builder of RC airplanes in mind. We noticed after looking through countless websites, there was a real lack of vital, comprehensive information out there that’s necessary to be successful at building radio control airplanes. You can feel good knowing that we have over 30 years experience building and flying models and we know what works and what doesn’t. We certainly could have benefited greatly from a guide that was meant for beginners to this amazing hobby way back when we started. Building RC Airplanes is becoming a lost art, but we see it as a wonderful outlet for expressing creativity and talent that needs to be revived. We consider all of us to be “makers”, and building RC airplanes uses many different maker skills- from woodworking, to electronics and metal working.
With any new hobby you are bound to make mistakes and in this hobby you just cannot afford to make too many or the plane won’t even be airworthy (which means to be able to fly properly without serious corrections needing to be made). We know how frustrating it is to spend hours and hours building a beautiful airplane, only to have it smash into a million pieces. We believe that in this particular hobby it is essential to get the correct training that will teach you proper building techniques from the beginning. This is even more important than other hobbies, you just do not have a large margin for error. Once your model airplane is in the air, this is not the time to find out whether or not you built something correctly or not.
THIS IS WHERE WE COME IN!
This is why we began this website and why we put together the most comprehensive book available for the beginner builder. We wanted to share our passion for building RC airplanes and all of the knowledge we have gained over the years in a step by step easy to follow format full of endless tips and tricks. And always remember, the time and money that you will invest is an investment in yourself.
Final Note To All….
We would love your insight and opinions with regard to the information on this site. Your objective point of view will help make this site a better experience for all of us builders of RC aircraft. We are a community and we welcome your help in providing the best content we can!
Be a Confident Builder,
